  • This video demonstrates the benefits and value of CambridgeSoft Inventory as well as being a short tutorial on its use. CambridgeSoft’s Inventory products save time for scientists and researchers in locating required substances and save money for organizations by avoiding duplicate stock. Recent increased awareness and legislation related to environmental, health and safety (EH&S), and antiterrorism have made such a system a requirement for all labs. We don’t want you to just take our word for this, we want to demonstrate and teach you to use Inventory’s capability. Below you will find set of 7 videos, the first one, Introduction to Inventory encompasses introducing CambridgeSoft’s Inventory and contains the others below, or if you are focused on a specific topic, you can look at that topic directly.

      • Cascading Locations in Inventory:
      • This video demonstrates the cascading location model in the context of SaaS Inventory, Workgroup Inventory, and Desktop Inventory. For the SaaS Inventory system, we introduce the available "Freezer-Rack Management" interface within the cascading locations. Topics include:
        • 3-tier screen (locations on left, containers on top, substances on bottom).
        • Hierarchy of locations, sub-locations, and sub-sub-locations with no limit to cascade depth.
        • Open/close each level of cascading locations with plus-sign "+" to open and minus-sign "-" to close.
        • Viewing all containers in one location (and viewing the substance in that container).
        • Freezer-Rack Management in SaaS and Enterprise versions (not available in Workgruop and Desktop versions).

      • Container Management in Inventory:
      • This video demonstrates container management in the context of Inventory Material Management. Topics include:
        • Containers are the basic unit of Inventory. Containers are in one location and contain one substance.
        • When you select a location (in the location pane on the left of the screen), all of the containers are shown that are in that location.
        • The list of containers is shown in the container pane (on the upper right of the screen). A mini-report shows the basic information for each container: ID, substance name, CAS#, etc.
        • Bar-coding is available for both locations and containers.

      • Report Generation in Inventory:
      • This video demonstrates Inventory's report generator. Topics include:
        • Print report by location or containers, with or without structures, or in label format.
        • Pre-formatted templates or customize your own.
        • Label format (using standard pre-defined labels), with or without barcodes.
        • Output to printer, screen, email, PDF, or other formats.

      • MSDS database in Inventory:
      • This video demonstrates the SAMSDS database and describes its interface to ChemACX and the Inventory system. For anyone handling, or needs to handle cleanup of chemical substances who require fast and reliable access to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Sigma Aldrich MSDS is a database of over 130,000 MSDS's for the products of the Sigma-Aldrich family of catalogs (Sigma, Aldrich, Fluka, Supelco, Riedel-de Haën) that document safe handling, storage, and disposal instructions, emergency procedures, spill and leak control measures, and important chemical characteristics determining general safety precautions. Unlike other electronic MSDS repositories, the Sigma Aldrich MSDS collection comes from a respected supplier in an extensible HTML format which is structure- and substructure-searchable and can be directly accessed from CambridgeSoft's E-Notebook, ChemACX, and Inventory Enterprise.

      • Audit Trail in Inventory:
      • This video demonstrates how the Inventory Audit Trail tracks data and how to report that data. Topics include:
        • The Audit Trail individually logs every change to Inventory locations, containers, and substances.
        • You can then produce reports, by date, location, containers, or compounds; and output to paper or electronic format.
        • Inserted data (for example, a new container) are tracked with new value and a blank old value.
        • Updated data (for example, depleting a substance) are tracked with both the new value and the old value.
        • Deleted data (for example, discarding a container) are tracked with an old value and a blank new value.
